TREES ARE MY FRIENDS
I’m most at home climbing a tree
where I can see all kinds of birds
nesting in the leaves and branches.
Trees speak to me in a language of their own.
Without words—they convey
what can only be felt in the heart.
Just like the voice of tea leaves
they know more than we know.
Trees are more patient
than human beings,
even when wet leaves
cry silently for sunshine.
Overheated trees
wait endlessly for a cool breeze.
All trees long to be embraced
as tree-huggers soon found out—
trees breathe through
the pores of our skin
creating a sense of wellbeing.
We should thank every tree

for being angels
who allow us to live.
